Jessica Ovalle, LMHC Clinical Supervisor
Support is provided to experience personal growth.
I am a compassionate psychotherapist dedicated to helping individuals manage their anxieties and foster personal growth through therapy. I have a Bachelor’s in Psychology, a Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling, and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Mental Health Counseling. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) licensed in New York with three years of clinical experience. In addition to my clinical work, I serve as a Clinical Supervisor at You Can Do It, PLLC, supporting the professional development of pre-licensed clinicians on our team.
Acknowledging that starting therapy can feel like a significant and sometimes intimidating step, I view it as an essential journey toward self-discovery and healing.
In my practice, I adopt an integrative approach, prioritizing the establishment of rapport and a deep understanding of each client’s unique therapeutic needs.
I collaborate with clients to explore the most effective paths forward, considering their personal experiences and what emerges during their sessions.
Person-centered therapy is my focus.
I primarily focus on person-centered therapy, allowing clients to progress at their own pace. I believe therapy can take various forms, including a relaxed conversation in a welcoming environment or incorporating games, activities, and diverse modalities to enrich the therapeutic experience.
My approach integrates evidence-based modalities, including:
- Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Trauma-informed approaches
I recognize that the therapeutic process is highly individualized and may require time to work through challenges, and I am committed to providing the support my clients need and deserve.
In addition to therapy, I also conduct psychological evaluations.
My evaluation work includes pre-surgical psychological evaluations for individuals preparing for bariatric surgery, spinal cord stimulator implantation, chronic pain interventions, and cosmetic procedures, as well as autism and ADHD evaluations. I use evidence-based assessment tools as clinically appropriate, with a focus on providing thorough, accurate documentation that supports both the individual and their care team:
- ADOS-2
- ADI-R
- MBMD Healing is not a linear process.
Sometimes, the healing process will go well, making you feel on top of the world, but there will be times when you might feel down. Therefore, I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients can navigate their journey’s ups and downs.
My areas of expertise are as follows:
- Anxiety
- Family Dynamics
- Substance Use
- Relationship Issues
- Irrational Thinking
- Career Counseling
- Coping Skills
- Justice System Involvement
- Special Education/Disabilities
- Stress Management
