Karen Feng, LMHC
Karen Feng is a licensed mental health counselor who offers individual therapy in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese for adolescents, college students, and adults facing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and life transitions in New York, in person and by telehealth.
Karen helps people find steadier ground during the seasons of life that ask the most of us. With roughly five years of clinical experience, she works with adolescents, college students, and adults on depression, anxiety, grief, and the identity questions that surface during major change. She is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, and offers therapy in all three.
Areas Karen focuses on
Karen supports clients with depression, generalized anxiety, grief and loss, relationship concerns, adjustment difficulties, emotional regulation, and trauma, including PTSD. She also has experience supporting clients with ADHD and autism-related needs, and with behavioral and emotional concerns in children and adolescents. Her clinical assessments, such as intake and biopsychosocial evaluations, help shape a plan built around each person’s goals.
Karen’s therapeutic approach
Warm, collaborative, and client-centered, Karen tailors the work to each person rather than to a single method. She draws on internal family systems (IFS), somatic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), psychodynamic therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and motivational interviewing. She also welcomes spirituality and meaning into the work when it matters to a client, always guided by that person’s own beliefs and comfort.
Before your first session
Karen wants clients to know the room is a safe, nonjudgmental place to be themselves. She treats therapy as a shared process and meets each person with curiosity and respect for their story.
A message from Karen
Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, and you do not have to navigate your challenges alone. My aim is a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can be your authentic self and move at your own pace. You are the expert on your own story, and my role is to support and guide you toward change that feels meaningful.
Karen earned her MS in mental health counseling from Brooklyn College and her BA in clinical psychology from Hunter College. She is a licensed mental health counselor in New York (LMHC), and also holds Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification and the ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider credential (ADHD-CCSP). She sees clients in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
