Dalton Alexis, LMHC
Dalton Alexis is a licensed mental health counselor who offers individual therapy for adults navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, and relationship stress, with a particular focus on men’s mental health, in New York, in person and by telehealth.
A lot of men reach a point where they are carrying more than they let on and are not sure who to say it to. Dalton Alexis works to be that person. With three years of clinical experience, he offers direct, practical therapy for adults, and he is especially passionate about reaching men, including young men and men of color, in communities where asking for help still carries stigma.
Who Dalton works with
Men newer to therapy are at the center of his practice, often people who were raised to handle everything on their own. He supports clients with ADHD, anxiety, depression, relationship distress, and trauma, and he pays attention to the cultural pressures that shape how a person experiences stress and what kind of help actually fits. As a man of color himself, he works to make the room feel safe for conversations that are hard to start.
How Dalton approaches therapy
Expect a real conversation, not a lecture. His style is collaborative, direct, and honest while staying supportive. He draws mainly on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), with solution-focused and motivational work and some Gestalt mixed in, so sessions stay grounded in what you are feeling now while building concrete skills you can use between visits.
What to expect starting out
You set the pace. The focus stays on practical steps, whether that is managing anxiety, sharpening focus with ADHD, or communicating better in a relationship, so you leave sessions with tools you can use day to day. The aim is a space to be honest without judgment and to work toward change you can actually feel.
A message from Dalton
Men need help too, and asking for it is a sign of strength, not weakness. I know starting therapy can feel uncomfortable, especially if you were taught to handle everything on your own. My goal is a space where you can talk openly about what you are going through, without judgment. We will work at your pace to figure out what is going on and build practical steps toward feeling better. You do not have to have it all figured out before reaching out. Just showing up is enough to start.
